Pushing the limits of music and marching, Spirit of America is presenting the world premiere of a new musical form: the Wind Opera. With musicians as the cast, Quest for Honor is being presented for the first time as a gift to the Korean people in concert halls and theaters in South Korea, and at the U.S. Military Base in Seoul in August, 2006.

This unique three-act instrumental opera is enacted on stage by an ensemble of 70 musicians who portray characters in a mythical story. Blending instruments, choreography, dance, costumes, and artistically painted sets, the wind opera is a sweepingly colorful musical presentation.

The story portrays two children who travel on a journey to save their village which has been under a curse of drought. Throughout their journey, the children struggle with betrayal, falsehood, hate, and selfishness, and discover loyalty, truth, love, and sacrifice – all attributes of honor – which give them the key to end the suffering of the land.

The original libretto, musical compositions, artistically painted sets and floor, hand-sewn costumes, and choreography were all created for the two-hour opera by teams from within Spirit of America band and its support staff. Quest for Honor is Co-Directed by Richard K. Pugsley and Danielle Dwyer.
